Bitter sweet

We just accepted an offer on the house. We close on May 23rd and are giving possesion on the 26th.
It’s exciting because we had started to wonder if we were going to get out on time but it’s a drag
too because I know my familly isn’t as excited about this as Jessi and I are. I understand, I do.
Saying we are moving to St Louis sounds like we are moving a long ways away.

And with that, we are on the new server! Backend stuff, you most likely won’t notice any difference with just a
few exceptions.

Deep Geek Ahead
I switched us to xen from usermode linux so we are now running on a hypervisor type setup instead of a
massive context switching type setup. Performance gains are amazing, on the order of 500% to 600%. We are
on slightly faster hardware and since xen is a bit more flexible in its networking, the iptables rules
have dropped significantly. I even got to add my low bandwidth walled garden in for anyone that wants to
use our wifi network without being a trusted source. It works crazy good.

We got Noah’s test results back and, as expected, he doesn’t like nuts. Come to find out, bananas are the
next one on his list. Easter is on its way, so we’ll see how that goes. We are still in KC, no buyers yet.
Kinda sucks, but Im sure it’s all for the best.
