I was reading an article on one of my favorite websites about TKO heavybags at one point being stuffed with used underwear. Wow, what a snaffu that must have been. Then it hit me, I have a TKO heavy bag. I went downstairs and what did I find, a bag full of bathing suits, coveralls, open saftey pins, christmas decorations, the list goes on. It was pretty much someone’s trash bag. It was unreal! I’ll post pictures. I left a message for TKO, we’ll see how they handle it.

A change of heart

Posted under Lost thoughts

We went to the CHI informational meeting yesterday and got a better idea of the road ahead. I won’t say that we had all of our questions answered, but we had all of the important ones taken care of and left feeling really ready to do this. In fact, we left with a bit of a change of heart. We got to talking and decided that we felt pretty ready to handle a child with physical special needs. We didn’t feel up to cognitive issues, but felt we could handle physical ones. We also decided that, while an infant would be fun, we aren’t really tied to one at all. In fact, we only want her to be 1 school year behind Noah. Using the current waiting period as a marker, that means we’re good for up to 3 years old.
We went home after the meeting and talked some more about the special needs and what needs we felt capable of handling and which would be too much for us. We had some very frank conversations. Why do we feel like we can do this? Why do we think that we’re capable? Why would we put ourselves into that position deliberately? By the next morning, we had talked ourselves out of a special needs child, but it’s a conversation I’m very glad that we had. We are still comfortable with an older child though, so I have a call into the agency to see if and how that changes the way we apply.

Must….Restrain….

Posted under Lost thoughts

This is going to be a really short post. A highlight clip of sorts.
Jerry Falwell died today, so in his….memory, here are some of his most catchy phrases.

“AIDS is not just God’s punishment for homosexuals; it is God’s punishment for the society that
tolerates homosexuals”

“God has removed it’s veil of protection from America in no small part, because of the feminists
and the gays”

“The idea that religion and politics don’t mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians
from running their own country”

I’m not one to rip on someone who is unable to defend himself, so I’ll just part by saying that
tonight, hell gets a little fatter.
