Snow day

Posted under Jason & Jessi & Noah

3234723372_799fbb94bd_b.jpgSanta saw fit to send us about 7 inches of snow last night making today an official snow day for my son and my betrothed. Jessi managed to squeeze out a snowday on Tuesday and added to the sick day on Monday, she’s shooting for a two day work week.  Noah has come down with a ripper of an ear infection. He was up all Sunday night until about 4am Monday morning when his ear just dumped  copious amounts of blood and puss. The draining is slowing down, but he’s still leaking some nasty smelling junk out of his left ear. Not that it kept us from sledding mind you.

A little bit of cotton in the ears, a skull cap and we’re off to play in the powder. Traffic was teh suck today, so I ended up staying home too and got 20 minutes or so outside to play with the family.  In case you couldn’t tell from the picture, we had such a great time.  Jessi, Noah, Jeff, Kerry, Carson and I all bombed down the hill beside our houses and then ran inside to fight off the hyperthermia that always follows this kind of fun. Good stuff, but back to the real world in the morning.

A journey’s end

Posted under Lost thoughts

Human beings are remarkably one dimensional when it comes to time. For us, everything has a beginning and everything has an end.  Most of us spend a good portion of our lives lamenting that end, dreading it, trying to cheat and extend it. But today, today we celebrate reaching the end of a road that was 8 years too long, cost everyone something and some people everything.  8 years ago, I made a poor assumption and believed that the man that would take the spot vacated by President Clinton was only sitting at the big kids table because someone miscounted the number of seats. 8 years ago, that was blissful ignorance. 4  years ago, my blissful ignorance became disbelief when bush handily won a second term. And now, after 4 more very long years, #44 has given me hope for America again and pride in my peers.  Lead on Barack, we’re ready to work.
