I started a week late because I couldn’t stay awake long enough to even begin the experiment while I was sick, but here are the updates.
Day 1.
Not too bad. I’m a bit tired this morning, but nothing that doesn’t rival most Sunday mornings.
Day 2.
This seems to be pretty doable. It takes me about 15 minutes to doze off when it’s time to nap, but I’m hoping to cut that down as I progress. So far, I feel pretty energized, but it is just day 2.
Day 3.
Oh yeah, this is doable. I’m a little tired today because my dogs kept me up most of last night, but I love having 9:30 to midnight to get stuff done. All of my back burner projects have just shot through the roof now that I’m using my hacking hours again.
Day 4.
Oh god, I am so tired. 6am came into my room this morning with a baseball bat and I can hardly keep my eyes open. All I want to do is go out to my truck and take a nap, but it’s going to be a busy day. No nap until noon. The nap was a life saver and I made it to 11:30 at night without too much trouble.
Day 5.
The neighbour’s dog was up barking from 1:30 until 2:00 when I got mad and started throwing rocks at it, so my core sleep time was seriously disturbed. This morning crept gently into the bedroom and caressed me out of bed with a baseball bat covered in broken nails. I’m awake, but I’m not entirely functional and all I can think about is that damn dog.
I did some more research and found a lot of stuff online from various medical communities all pretty much universally saying that polyphasic sleep is a really bad idea simply because it’s unrealistic for most people’s schedule. In hindsight, the additional research was a mistake. On to week two!!
