Got some pictures up from Fathers day at my parents house.

Mother’s day is thought to have been invented in ancient Greece around the 4th century BCE, growing out of the festival of Cybele who was a great Mother of the Greek Gods. Father’s day was invented in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd in Sebastian County Arkansas. The difference in pedigree helps to explain why the traditional Father’s day gift is a tie while Mother’s receive rare gemstones and gold to mark the occasion, but this year my Wife and Son decided that a little leveling of the playing field was in order. I spent most of the 48 hours afforded to me this weekend either
Playing with my son
Playing with my nephew
Enjoying the benefits of a healthy marriage to a beautiful woman
Working on a truck with my Dad and brother in law
Eating hotdogs, burgers and brats
Sleeping in late
Hanging with my family and watching my youngest sister pursue my son around the house with a pair of duck slippers
and just losing track of time and enjoying every minute.
All in all a most excellent weekend and one I think that even Cybele herself would envy.
